Women in Communities Zimbabwe (WICO)

Beneficiary: Women in Gweru

Women in Communities (WICO), founded in 2015 in Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province, empowers women and girls through safe spaces, survivor‑led GBV support, and culturally grounded programs rooted in Ubuntu, indigenous wisdom, and evidence‑based strategies; responding to the reality that 1 in 4 women experience violence, WICO provides shelters, psychosocial care, legal guidance, and vocational training that help survivors rebuild their lives, achieve economic independence, and break cycles of abuse, while menstrual hygiene initiatives keep girls in school and reduce stigma—impact that donors directly strengthen, with contributions providing sanitary ware for learners, medical care for survivors, building materials for community shelters, and monthly pads for girls, ensuring safer communities, stronger support systems, and lasting empowerment for women and girls. Let us join hands in the fight against GBV by supporting survivors and strengthening entire communities, because even the smallest contribution can create meaningful change: a gift of $50 equips 50 learners with sanitary ware so they never miss school, $16 enables a survivor to access essential medical care at the local health centre, $10 purchases a bag of cement toward building a community shelter, and just $1 provides a month’s supply of pads for a girl; every donation helps create safer, happier communities where survivors can reclaim their lives and girls can stay in school with dignity and confidence.
